This paper summarizes how the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS) in Japan has operated the lunar and interplanetary spacecraft so far. ISAS has launched two interplanetary and two lunar swingby spacecraft by now, and currently plans to send one lunar exploration probe and one Martian orbiter in 1997 and 98 respectively. What follows describes, first of all, Guidance, Navigation and Control strategies taken, including Reaction Control System as well as Telecommunication and Tele-command Systems. The contents here are emphasized especially on the orbital maneuvers aspects.
