This paper deals with transient finite elements modeling of magnetostriction. At first, a linear model is developed, which is verified by comparing the fourier transform of the step-response of the dynamical model to the, numerically differentiated, frequency response of the system. Then a non-linear relative permeability is assumed and at last, periodical collisions with a rigid wall are simulated. The time-integration method was chosen instead of the Newmark method, which is an unconditionally stable method. Further, the method is non-self starting, since the displacement accelerations are unknown initially. These are calculated from the Euler method, giving sufficient information to solve all unknowns in the dynamical simulations.
