The caucasian subsample (N = 67) of the 128 children involved as subjects in the Block and Block (1980) longitudinal study evaluated as to their eye color and behavioral inhibition. Their personality was assessed at 3 and 4 years and at 11 years using the California Child Q-set, which contains nine items that directly relate to the child's behavioral inhibition. Additionally, longitudinal measures of field independence/dependence were collected employing the rod and frame test, and the embedded figures test. Both the personality items and the field-independence measures were found to be related to eye pigmentation. In our sample, no evidence supported a relation between eye color and the behavioral inhibition.
