α-Ferrous oxide (Fe 2 O 3) nanostructures were synthesized by precipitation route using an aqueous solutions bath containing ferric and ferrous chloride. The prepared Fe 2 O 3 nanostructures were characterized by X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, FTIR, VSM and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns revealed orthorhombic phase Fe 2 O 3 nanostructures. The crystallite size was estimated about ~11nm. Nanopillars shaped grains were observed by FE-SEM and TEM studies. Magnetic properties of Fe 2 O 3 were determined by using a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The observed results were discussed in detail.
