Solid-liquid mass transfer characteristics of fixed beds of Raschig rings were studied by measuring the rate of diffusion-controlled dissolution of copper rings in acidified chromate solution. Variables studied were ring diameter, physical properties of the solution and flow rate of the solution. A comparison was made between the mass transfer behavior of beds packed with Raschig rings and beds packed with other packing geometries.
