The combination of the square-planar cis-protected Pt(II) with the 180° divergence bis(amidopyridine) bridging ligand, leads to quantitative self-assembled M 2 L 2 macrocycles. The rhomboids are characterized, by multinuclear NMR and electrospray ionization mass spectroscopy. Size estimations for the rhomboid assemblies, using MM2 simulation, are given.
