The knowledge of micronutrient uptake as well as their concentration in crops at different growth stages is important for nutrient management. The objective of the conducted field experiment was to evaluate the influence of K fertilization rates on the uptake and distribution of microelements in maize grown in soil with very high soil-test K levels. Plant samples were taken 37, 48, 58, 69, 79, 89, 100, 109, 118, 132 i and 140 days after maize sowing and analyzed for Cu, Zn, Fe and Mn content. The results showed that maize crops significantly increased their uptake of micronutrients under the conditions of fertilization with potassium. Irrespective of the applied fertilization, the micronutrient accumulation was intensified at tasseling, during the full milk stage of kernels, and during early dough. K fertilization had a minimal beneficial effect on maize quality with respect to micronutrient contents in plants.
