Pojawiające się w rodzinie problemy w zakresie właściwego wywiązywania się z realizacji podstawowych funkcji rodzicielskich stwarzają potrzebę zabezpieczenia wychowania dzieci w środowisku pieczy zastępczej. Rodziny zastępcze są od lat praktykowaną formą zapewniania opieki i wychowania dzieciom opuszczonym i osieroconym. Bieżąca troska rodziców o dziecko i jego wychowanie stanowi istotę funkcjonowania rodziny zastępczej, która – mimo zmieniających się warunków społecznych, ekonomicznych oraz regulacji prawnych – jest trwałą i cenioną formą opieki dla dzieci i młodzieży. W artykule przedstawiono zagadnienia dotyczące funkcjonowania rodziny zastępczej jako środowiska opiekuńczo-wychowawczego, rodzaje rodzin zastępczych, aspekty prawno-organizacyjne tej formy opieki, świadczenia, jakie otrzymuje, a także jej zadania i rolę, jaką spełnia w systemie pieczy zastępczej.
Families appearing in the family to properly perform their basic parental functions create a need to secure the upbringing of children in a foster care environment. Foster families have for many years been a practiced form of providing care and education for abandoned or orphaned children. The current concern of parents for the child and its upbringing is the essence of the foster family, which despite the changing social and economic conditions as well as legal regulations is a lasting and valued form of care for children and young people. The article presents the content of the foster family as a care and educational environment. The types of foster families, legal and organizational aspects of this form of care, the benefits it receives, as well as its tasks and role in the foster care system are presented.
