The article is devoted to the first Russian abbreviations found in Russian- Polish dictionary of Jozef Krasny, which was published in Moscow in 1933. From the range of letters A-O, 253 abbreviations were chosen to be analised in terms of their structure. They were divided into groups according to the classification of abrreviations which was proposed by Stanislaw Szadyko (seven structural models of Russian abbreviations). The analysis has demonstrated that the morphological abbreviations were the least productive class in the 1930s (only 3 examples of this in the material). Sound abbreviations (57 examples) and partially abbreviated formations appeared mostly among numerous syntactic abbreviations. Letter abbreviaitons form quite a big group but their number in the particular subclasses is uneven. Six early Russian abbreviations were not classified into any of the structural groups which were proposed by S. Szadyko. The structural analysis requires the knowledge of their pronunciation. Unfortunately, our knowledge in relation to the early Russian abbreviations is incomplete.
