The formative era of a multicultural world in which multiethnic communities participate in nationwide, regional, and local communication processes, creates, among other things, special conditions for the development of contrastive onomastics as an onomastic subdiscipline, the bases for which were shaped in previous research from the fields of toponymy, anthroponymy, and zoonymy. This development additionally makes possible a methodological context of contrastive linguistics, cultural linguistics, cognitivistics. Connected with this is the need for a new compilation of onomastic terminology - Polish and Slavic.
