In this paper the authors shows the new methodology of two phase gas-liquid flows recognition based on the fuzzy inference. At the beginning there is a short description of the experimental set up, later there is a detailed description of the experimental data processing and analysis algorithm and the fuzzy rules building routine, at the end of this paper there are the research results and analysis.
The paper presents a new approach to monitoring changes of characteristic parameters of gravitational solids flow. Electrical Capacitance Tomography (ECT) is applied for non-invasive process monitoring. Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) are used to estimate important flow parameters knowing the measured capacitances. The proposed approach solves the ECT inverse problem in a direct manner and provides...
This paper describes an application of dual-plane Electrical Capacitance Tomography (ECT) system for gas-solid swirl flow measuremetns. The angular component of the velocity in the pipes cross section was calculated. The angular velocity was determined based on tomographic data sets obtained from the physical model and also simulated data sets of the swirl flow phenomena. Analysis of material concentration...
The multi-phase flow measurements are very important tasks in many areas of industrial processes applications. One of them is undersea exploration of oil in the petroleum industry. The submitted paper presents application of DECART tomograph designed and built in Lodz University of Technology - together with combined measurements of signals acquired from gamma ray measurement system. Use of all measuring...
The article presents the parametrisation-based methods of monitoring of the process of gravitational silo discharging with aid of capacitance tomography techniques. Proposed methods cover probabilistic Bayes’ modelling, including spatial and temporal analysis and Markov chain Monte Carlo methods as well as process parametrisation with artificial neural networks. In contrast to classical image reconstruction-based...
In recent years the use of fractional calculus in control system identification is becoming popular and it has found new applications. The paper presents application of fractional calculus for modelling of two-phase gas/liquid flows in a test rig. The installation consists of three horizontal and vertical measuring segments with different diameters, which allow to investigate flows in a wide range...
Electrical Capacitance Tomography is used to visualize a spatial distribution of electric permittivity in a tomographic sensor. ECT is able to create even thousands of frames per second which is suitable for application in the industry, e.g. monitoring of multiphase flows or material mixing. A tool for sensor modelling and image reconstruction is needed in order to develop improved solutions and to...
Electrical capacitance tomography is an innovative method for visualization of industrial processes. One of its main advantages is it’s high time resolution that allows to the usage of ECT in systems with high volatility. In recent years there has been significant development of electrical capacitance tomography 3D, which however, has significantly reduced industrial it’s applications due to the complicated...
This paper presents the software for comprehensive processing and visualization of 2D and 3D electrical tomography data. The system name as TomoKIS Studio has been developed in the frame of DENIDIA international research project and has been improved in the frame of Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education Project no 4664/B/T02/2010/38. This software is worldwide unique because it simultaneously...
The article presents the methods of monitoring of the process of gravitational silo discharging with aid of tomography techniques. The described methods apply to funnel and mass flow measurement. The core unit of the presented monitoring system is an image-processing module, while the images are obtained with aid of the electrical capacitance tomography. For the funnel type of flow, the outputs of...
The current methods of calculating the velocity field based on a twin-plane electrical capacitance system for multiphase flows are presented. The described methods allow to calculate the velocity profile of the multiphase flow in cross-section of industrial installation. The theoretical assumptions of the considered methods are also noticed. The main advantages and disadvantages of the authors’ flow...
Electrical capacitance tomography is used to visualize a spatial distribution of dielectrical permittivity of materials placed in a tomographic sensor. An image is reconstructed from measurements of mutual capacitances of electrodes placed around the examined volume. This technique is characterized by very high temporal resolution – it is possible to achieve even few thousands of images per second...
Electrical Capacitance Tomography is a technique which allows to visualize a spatial distribution of electric permittivity in an examined volume. ECT allows to achieve hundreds of frames per second which is suitable for the industrial application, e.g. monitoring of multiphase flows or material mixing. Construction of such ECT system which enables precise data acquisition with sufficient speed is...
Further tests of EVT4 data acquisition system for electrical capacitance tomography are presented. The modular system, which can have up to 32 channels with an individual analogue to digital converter, was designed to ensure small uncertainty of capacitance measurement at high speed of imaging. The system’s performance in the context of 3D imaging was experimentally verified. In particular, we show...
This article presents an industrial tomography platform for diagnosing and controlling technological processes. The system has been prepared in such a way that it is possible to add individual sensors that cooperate with the system of an intelligent cyber-physical platform with an open architecture. In addition, it is possible to configure and cooperate with external systems freely. As part of the...
