The paper presents work analysis of active digging unit in the form of two symmetrical, oscillating shares, designed for machine harvesting carrots. The use of the proposed unit allows to effectively cultivate soil near the roots of carrots, which significantly reduces the force required to pull the roots from the soil. Key words: active digging unit, deformation of soil, soil stresses distribution
Measurements of soil enzymatic activity enable determination of the rate of regeneration of soils destroyed by fire. The aim of the study was to assess the influence of uncontrolled grass burning in spring on soil enzymatic activity. The object of the study was soil in the grassland ecosystem located in Turowola Kolonia near the town of Łęczna, Poland. Every year in spring uncontrolled grass burning...
Soil contamination by heavy metals poses a threat to plants, terrestrial animals, and in consequence, human health. Heavy metals emitted primarily by anthropogenic activity may be accumulated in edible plant or animal tissues and then consumed by humans. The need for a reliable detection and continuous monitoring of heavy metal contents in agricultural soils is undeniable. Moreover, a cost-effective...
This paper reports the results of research into water flow in three various soil types. Soil data were obtained on the basis of a classification by Wösten and van Genuchten [38]. The mathematical model of water flow in soil was formulated using Richards’ equation. The data for hydraulic conductivity and suction pressure of unsaturated soil were obtained using the van Genuchten model. The method of...
Conducted study concerns the influence of fertilisation (manure, onion and tomato compost) and three strains of Trichoderma isolated from soils on the total number of moulds, including plant pathogens of the Fusarium and Alternaria and the yield of radish. The research proved that the number of the microorganisms were statistically significantly modified by the type of combination and the term of...
