The aim of the present work was to verify experimentally the method for modelling of worm gear drive abrasive wear. The assumptions for model functioning were formulated and the test stands were built. A real worm gear was subjected to tests. A method for comparing the model and the real object was developed and the results of model tests were presented.
Cylindrical hydrostatic bearings are applied in machine tool in which the spindle is required to rotate extremely accurately. At adequately great rotational speeds, they show hydrodynamic effects that can be used to improve the characteristics of the spindle unit. In this paper, the concept of the H coefficient is introduced, which makes it possible to define the limits of hydrostatic and hybrid operation...
Application of the Finite Elements Method (FEM) to determination of magnitudes and distribution of stresses as well as limit speeds for grinding wheels sub0ject to inertial forces is presented in the papaer. Theoretical values of limit velocities have been compared with experimental magnitudes recorded during tensile tests of grinding wheels carried out on a testing machine. Sensitively of the applied...
In the paper the method of estimation of cutting ability of superhard grinding wheels during grinding process are presented. Cutting ability of grinding wheels is evaluated during a few-second grinding test of special tester (thermocouple), outside the area of the workpiece processing. The indicators of cutting ability: linear decrement and temperature during this test are recorded. The measurement...
In the paper an analysis of grinding process simulation results is described. The analysis was carried out on the basis of grinding wheel cutting surface (GWCS) profile measurement. In the next step, a neural model was used to evaluate a relationship between parameters, characterising potential functional properties of GWCS and real grinding results, described by residual stresses and roughness of...
The paper presents methods of form dressing of conventional and superhard grinding wheels. The manifold usefulness of dressing methods, including methods using single- and multi-grain diamond dressers or rotary dressers, as well as cruch dressing with hard roll are discussed. Selected problems of superhard grinding wheels with metal bond operational properties forming by electrodischarge and electrochemical...
This paper explores a hybrid artificial intelligence system. The systems helps in the selection of grinding wheels and grinding conditions. Another part of the system includes specialised software which is involved in PC-Shell environment and an artificial neural network, and works within the Matlab environment. The paper also examined the system's algorithm and the system application software tasks.
