During the decopperization offlash smelting slag its viscosity changes significantly from the point ofview ofthe conditions of the process. Information concerning the viscosity of the slag and control over this property allows for efficient copper recovery. Viscosity at the high temperatures present in the process (1300-1400 °C) is difficult to measure under laboratory conditions due to the chemical effects of slag on the test apparatus. Therefore mathematical models are increasingly used to describe the viscosity in the rangę of high temperatures. In this paper, examinations of viscosity offlash smelting slags and after decopperization were conducted, at temperatures ranging from 1200-1340 °C in different gas atmospheres (C02, N2, CO-C02) and presents a comparison ofthe results calculated according to the mathematical models.
