Obserwowany w ostatnich latach rozwój inwestycji w budownictwie mieszkaniowym, przemysłowym i infrastrukturalnym wymaga znacznych ilości kruszyw żwirowo-piaskowych. W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki analizy kosztów transportu kruszyw samochodami ciężarowymi i – oddzielnie − koleją.
Observed in recent years, the growth of investment in housing sector, industry and infrastructure requires a significant amount of sand and gravel aggregates. In the event of significant shortages of aggregates in particular provinces where demand dominates the supply the need to transport surplus aggregates occurs. Due to the relatively low price of sand and gravel aggregates and the high cost of transport, it is important to identify the optimal directions of trans-port allowing for the market balancing. A key element of the balancing process is the choice of means of transport and to determine the cost of transport in the context of existing constraints of infrastructure, communications and logistics. For the transport of rock raw materials used in Poland are basically two types of transport – rail and heave trucks. Selection of the type of transport is determined by the technical capabilities of transport and also by economic, social and environmental constraints. Rail transport is not an independent, because there is very often necessity to provide truck support to mine ramp, and later on − to end user. The article presents the results of sand and gravel aggregates costs analysis of transport by heavy trucks and – separately – by rail. The study was conducted by analyzing the current price of transport of heavy trucks with a capacity of over 20 tonnes. In the case of rail, average costs of transport are established taking into account the current tariff and possible connections. The publication also presents derived mathematical formulas representing the cost curves as a function of distance. On this basis, the marginal effective distance of different means of transport was estimated.
