The article characterizes state–of–the–art PEMS (Portable Emission Measurement System) equipment for exhaust emissions measurement under actual operating conditions. Besides the article contains the results of exhaust emission research for engines of a variety of transport applications such as light duty vehicles, heavy–duty vehicles or non–road vehicles (farm tractors, groundwork and forest machinery).Own exhaust emission research results performed under different traffic conditions of new motor vehicles fuelled with different fuels (gasoline, diesel fuel and natural gas) have been compared with the type approval values that define the vehicle emission indexes. Formal model of the system is presented as well as data necessary for modeling. Next, the simulation model EMITRANSYS implemented in PTV VISUM is discussed and results of distribution traffic into transport network with regard to proecological determinants are given.
