The dependence of work function on temperature is calculated for 45 elements by using the thermal expansion data. Calculations are performed in the framework of a new model of work function (1). It is shown that the derivative dFi/dT may not be treated as constant in a broad temperature range. It was found that Au and Pt, being commonly used as reference electrodes in the Kelvin method, are characterized by high and strongly nonlinear dFi/dT values.
