Woda taka przed wykorzystaniem jej np. do płukania filtrów musi zostać pobrana i odpowiednio przygotowana, co stanowi w efekcie o zwiększeniu kosztów eksploatacyjnych stacji.
The backwashing of filters is the main factor that affects the volume of water used for the needs of water treatment plant. Volume of water lost for technological processes depends on the technological process of water treatment and may consist more than 10 percent of total plant production. Therefore the use of the treated water for filter backwashing considerably increases the plant operational costs. Any reduction of these costs is huge benefit. This paper presents the results of the study on rapid filters backwashing at “Straszyn” surface water treatment. According to the obtained results operational guidelines have been formulated to optimize the filter backwashing, which resulted in significant reduction of the volume of water used for washing filters.
