Książka archeologa Edwarda Dąbrowskiego prezentuje wyniki badań systemu obronnego tzw. Bramy Krośnieńskiej, położonej na Ziemi Lubuskiej, obejmującej trzy grody: Krosno Odrzańskie, Połupin i Gostchorze. Zespół ten odegrał istotną rolę w odparciu przez Bolesława Chrobrego najazdów cesarza niemieckiego Henryka II w latach 1005 i 1009-10. Zmagania obu władców opisane zostały w Kronice Thietmara. Jej zapisy, na równi z badaniami archeologicznymi i topograficznymi, posłużyły autorowi książki do rekonstrukcji systemu obronnego i uściśleń historycznych.
The book of Edward Dąbrowski, archaeologist, presents the results of the defence system examination of the Krośnieńska City Gate, located in the Lubuska Land, and covering three towns: Krosno Odrzańskie, Połupin and Gostchorze. This complex played a vital role in repelling the attacks of the German emperor Henry II in 1005 and 1009-10 by King Bolesław Chrobry. The struggle of both sovereigns was described in Thietmar's Chronicle. The chronicle, together with archaeological and topographical research, helped the author to reconstruct the defensive systems and make historical specifications.
