The primary surface mine machines are causing, besides many operating and constructional problems, challenge in respect of material selection. At present, it is concerning in particular these structural assemblies, which are exposed to abrasive wear in the dynamic load conditions. In this paper, results of lining plate of the fixed chute assembly of the excavator scoop tests have been presented. They are concerning 35SG steel, high-chromic cast iron and padding padded 18G2A steel. Against a background of previous experimental results, macroscopic features of their wear, microstructure and hardness have been determinated. It has been shown, that at present, usage of the 35SG steel and cast iron is not finding application. Currently, padded plates of 18G2A steel have the highest durability. Also the partial experimental results of plates made of Hardox 400 and Hardox 500 have been presented. They could be an alternative in relation to previous solutions. Their surfaces are uniformly wearing. They do not have tendency to cracking and they are local defecting in the vicinity of edge after 500 hours of work. It is creating a possibility of extension of the chute service life, simplification of the plates assembling and disassembling technology and precise planning of repair of this structural assembly.
