The method of laser scanning with the application of scanning total stations and scanners becomes more and more widely used in surveying, mining and construction. It is applied in places that are difficult to reach, when the conditions are unfavourable for traditional measurement techniques. Specialist laser instruments are still very expensive, thus in the literature there are still only few examples referring to the accuracy of laser scanning that can be obtained in practice. The article presents the method of testing selected laser instruments in the laboratory and field conditions and the accuracies obtained by the authors at the distance measurement with laser scanners: Callidus CPS GmgH, GX Trimble, Cyrax 2500 Cyra Technologies and the following scanning total stations: TCR 303 Leica and S6 Trimble.
