Dwie pierwsze grupy stopów można stosować w temperaturze nie przekraczającej 230 °C, zaś stopy trzeciej grupy zachowują dobre właściwości magnetyczne w temperaturze do 550 °C. W artykule opisano strukturę i podstawowe właściwości stopów nanokrystalicznych miękkich magnetycznie, i porównano je z materiałami konwencjonalnymi.
The inductive elements, where the crucial part is the core made of magnetically soft materials, play an important role in electric energy transformation. Apart from the conventional materials, also modern materials are used: amorphous alloys and nanocrystalline alloys. The structure of the latter is two-phase: equiaxial crystals, with the size not exceeding 20 nm, are homogeneously dispersed in an amorphous matrix. The crystalline phase takes about 60-70 % of volume. The soft magnetic behaviour of these materials is related to the grain refinement and their random orientation. There is a threshold of grains size, above which the coercive field rapidly increases, and this is of 40-60 nm, depending on the alloy composition. This is an evident limit, below which we consider a material nanocrystalline, defined by essential change of material properties, and not - as it is frequently assumed - an arbitrary value of e.g. 100 nm, not related to the qualitative change of structure or properties. The manufacturing process of the magnetically soft iron and cobalt alloys consists of two stages: the first one is the casting of an amorphous alloy in the form of a ribbon, and the second stage is the partial crystallization of the alloy upon the heat treatment. Presently, three main groups of the magnetically soft nanomaterials are known: FINEMET (Fe-Nb-Cu-Si-B), NANOPERM (Fe-Zr-Cu-B) and HITPERM (Fe-Co-Zr-Cu-B). The first two groups may be used at temperature not exceeding 230 °C, and the latter group maintains its good magnetic properties up to 550 °C. High quenching rate - necessary for obtaining an amorphous structure - forces the shape of the alloys: majority of such products is obtained in the form of ribbon not thicker than 40 žm. The properties of nanocrystalline alloys depend on their chemical composition and on the structure, and the latter is influenced by the composition and the heat treatment. Optimization of chemical composition and of the manufacturing process leads to the obtaining of desired properties. This paper presents the structure and fundamental properties of the magnetically soft nanomaterials, and they were compared to conventional materials. Basing on the random anisotropy model, the reasons for very good magnetic properties were explained. The global achievements in the development of the magnetically soft alloys were described. On this background, Polish scientists' results in this area were presented.
