This article presents finding regarding to influence of saturated fattyacids C6-C18 introduced (50-1000 ppm (m/m) to model and actual solvents on the steel ball wear (ŁH 15) disk. It was analysed the effect of solution concentration and acid molecular weught on tribological properties of diesel oil. It was analysed the effect of solution concentration on the course of wear process in systems lubricated by solution of palmitic acid in: 1-methylnaphtalene, mixture of n-hexadecane and 1 metylnaphtalene, paraffin-naphtalene fraction as well mineral and synthetic basic lube oil. On the curve of relationship between wear and concentration of acids in all used solvents (model oils ), it was observed occurence of local minima and maxima. It has been ascertained that their presence is related to the influence of particular hydrocarbon groups entered into the composition of solvents on the mechanism of wear.Besides it has been proved that action of fatty acids under friction conditions (wear quanity) depends among other things on viscosity of model oil. However molecular structure of the solvent (e.g. solutions od acids in n-hexadecane ) has sometimes predominat influence on the wear.
