In June 1922 the miningn orchestra welcomed in Nowa Wieś (New Village) the divisions of Polish Military entering this land after the years of Prussian occupancy. This fact was assumed as the beginning of the history of the Brass Orchestra of "Pokój" mine. The history started, anyhow, a bit earlier on 26 September 1920 when - on the territory of the then Wirek and Kochlowice - the Musical Association under patronage of Stanisław Moniuszko was founded. The Orchestra of the "Walenty Wawel" mine was founded in 1922 by Agu-styn Kozioł. In 1996 after merger of "Pokój" and " Wawel" mine the two orchestras were also integrated. Total the orchestra is run by Jacek Kampa, the bandmaster and the author of the article.
