"Pokój" hard coal mines in Ruda Śląska is one of the oldest mines in Poland. Its foundation dates back to XVIII century. The history of the mines means the fate of mining generations connected with Ruda, Czarny Las, Nowy Bytom, Wi-rek, Orzegów and Godula. It also meant the integration of the then independent operation units as the natural course of events resulting from depleting of reserves.
