Diffusion processes during the selective oxidation of an alloy containing a noble metal and a oxidizable metal were theoretically analyzed by C. Wagner. He had shown the analytical method to calculate the oxidation rate (growth of the scale) as a function of initial concentration of the reacting metal. Wagner simplified the problem of alloy oxidation assuming the constant concentration at the alloy|oxide interface. In this work we extend the Wagner model by introducing i) the time dependence of the reacting metal concentration at the alloy|oxide interface and the instantaneous rate constant, ii) the composition dependent diffusivities of the alloy components and iii) the finite thickness of the oxidized alloy. We present the comparison of Wagner's results and our extended analysis in case in case of selective oxidation in Ni-Pt alloy.
Procesy dyfuzyjne podczas selektywnego utleniania stopu zawierającego metal szlachetny i metal utleniający się były teoretycznie badane przez C. Wagnera. Przedstawił on analityczną metodę obliczania szybkości utleniania (wzrostu zgorzeliny) jako funkcję początkowego stężenia reaktywnego metalu. Metoda Wagnera zakłada stałą koncentrację metalu w granicy stop/tlenek. W niniejszej pracy zaproponowano rozwinięcie modelu Wagnera poprzez wprowadzenie i) zależnego od czasu stężenia reagującego metalu na granicy stop|tlenek i chwilowej stałej szybkości reakcji, ii) współczynników dyfuzji jako funkcji składu chemicznego składników oraz iii) skończonej grubości reagującego stopu. Zaprezentowano porównanie wyników uzyskanych z metody Wagnera i modelu opisanego w niniejszej pracy dla przypadku selektywnego utleniania stopu Ni-Pt.
