Zastosowano modyfikację stosowanej w poprzednich pracach metody MOCVD, polegającą na zastąpieniu czystego amoniaku czystym argonem w trakcie syntezy tzw. warstwy pośredniej, bezpośrednio przylegającej do podłoża, o małej grubości. Pozwalało to zapewnić dobrą adhezję kompozytowej warstwy do podłoża.
In the presented work A1203 layers on cemented carbide tools were obtained by MOCVD method, with the use of alumina acetylacetonate as a reagent. Modified MOCVD method, used in previous investigations, was utilized. Modification included replacing pure ammonia with pure argon during the synthesis of so called intermediate layer, directly adjacent to the substrate and with low thickness. Layer was obtained in two-step process, at about 800°C. Preliminary step included synthesis of intermediate layer with thickness about 0,06 - 0,07 um, in the atmosphere of argon. That layer contained carbon, which was the effect of decomposition of organic substrate. The task of this layer was to block diffusion of substrate components to the synthesized outer alumina layer without carbon and to prevent oxidation of substrate during the layer's synthesis. Such procedure allowed a good adhesion of the layer to substrate. Outer layer (without carbon) with thickness abort 4,5 um was obtained with rate up to 5 um/h, using air as carrier gas. Utilization of MOCVD method lowered synthesis' temperature, which allowed to obtain smooth layers. Obtained layers were thermally treated in higher temperatures, to obtain in them a - Al2O3 phase. The effect of this process was the improvement of layer microhardness and adhesion to the substrate.
