Polska infrastruktura kolejowa umożliwia transport pasażerski i towarowy z prędkościami nieprzekraczającymi 160 km/h. ETP.
Polish railway infrastructure allows to travel and carry the cargo with the highest speed of 160 km/h. Government main railways tracks modernization project puts on that the transport will take place with the highest speed of 250 km/h. This will contribute substantially to the development of not only Polish railways but it will also come in the economic growth of the all the country. One of the main speed limits of the trains is the upper contact line. Traditional polish copper based material solutions, in the field of upper contact line, are insufficient in consideration of its too low strength and too low thermal resistance. Both strength and thermal resistance of copper makes impossible to rise the load?carrying and current capacity of contact line, and by that it limits the travelling speed. In this article, the research results of oxygen free copper and its alloys usage for trolley wires have been presented. Research program includes the trolley wires strength, and thermal resistance characteristics. As shown in the article oxygen free copper, and oxygen free copper silver alloy based trolley wires, have sufficient qualities level and are competitive against electrolytic tough pitch copper trolley wires.
