Role of structural, mechanical and operating factors in corrosion resistance of tubular heat exchangers, namely sugar factory's evaporator and steam-air type heat exchanger has been presented. It has been found that evaporator's brass tubing was damaged because of stress corrosion cracking in conditions of internal stresses, presence of ammonium ions and SO[2] inside tubes environment. The recrystalized copper tubing of the ateam heater was damaged by pitting. The damages have been caused due to contamination of humid steam by chlorides, sulphates and CO[2].
