Low-temperature rolling practices for long products are described. A theoretical analysis of energy demand for reheating and rolling has shown that savings during reheating are higher than additional energy needed for rolling. These theoretical data were confirmed in laboratory tests. On the basis of preliminary criteria Polish rolling mills which could use low-temperature rolling technology were selected.
