The paper presents results for boronickelized C45 steel after laser surface modification. Influence of laser heat treatment on the microstructure and microhardness of surface layer was investigated. The process of boronickelizing consists of nickel plating followed by diffusion boronizing. The laser heat treatment (LHT) was carried out with technological laser TRUMPF TLF 2600 Turbo CO2 of nominal power 2.6 kW. Laser modification of the boronickelized layer Was carried out with laser power P 1.04 kW, 1.17 kW, 1.30 kW and at laser beam scanning velocity v: 0.67 m/min, 1.12 m/min, 2.88 m/min. Measurements of microhardness were conducted using the Vickers” method and Zwick 3212 B hardness tester. Microstructure observations were perfonned on light microscope Metaval Carl Zeiss Jena. After boronickelizing at temperature 950°C the microstructure of surface layer was composed of two zones: first, subsurface of microhardness 1100+1200 HV0.05, and second, situated deeper, at microhardness similar to iron borides. After laser heat treatment with re-melting, a three-zone layer was obtained, which included: re-melted zone (MZ), heat affected zone (HAZ) and a core. Influence of laser heat treatment parameters on microstructure and microhardness of melted zone was tested. The microhardness measured along the axis of track of the laser heat treatment surface layer was about 800+1200 HV. The results of our investigation showed influence of laser power and scanning rate on microstructure and properties ofboronickelized layers.
W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badan boroniklowanej stali C45 po laserowej modyfikacji. Badano wpływ laserowej obróbki cieplnej na mikro- strukturę i mikrotwardość warstwy Wierzchniej. Proces boroniklowania składał się z obróbki galwanicznej, następnie dyfuzyjnego borowania. Laserową obróbką cieplną (LOC) wykonano za pomocą lasera technologicznego CO2 firmy TRUMPF TLF 2600 Turbo o mocy nominalnej 2,6 kW. Laserową modyfikację warstwy boroniklowanej przeprowadzono za pomocą mocy lasera P 1,04 kW, 1,17 kW, 1,30 kW i prędkości skanowania wiązką laserową v 0,67 m/min, 1,12 m/min, 2,88 m/min.
