Poruszono kwestię struktury podsektora wytwarzania krajowego systemu elektroenergetycznego, jego kształtu i roli jaką odgrywa i będzie odgrywać w zapewnieniu bezpieczeństwa energetycznego.
The article concerns the structure of power generation sub-sector as a part of the national electric power system, its shape and the role it plays and will play in ensuring energy security. The current structure as well as European trends in the development of national policies in this topic are presented. The global economy and environmental, energy and climate policy of individual countries and their groups (like the EU) cause increasingly growing interest in the development of distributed energy sources, which equipped with a "smart grid" are an excellent supplement or alternative to traditional power generation sources. The authors indicate the necessity to balance these two directions and to take decisions, not only as to obtain short-term economic profits, but also long-term actions that will allow for the development of economy and the society and that will affect in the long term also the economic results.
