The author discusses the course of internal conflicts in Yemen in 2011–2012. Separatists in the south of Yemen and Shi’ite Houthi rebels in the north of the country caused a weakening of the central government. The meddling of Saudi Arabia in the internal affairs of Yemen and Al-Qaeda’s terror threatened the national security and obstructed state functioning. Author also presents the matters of religion (conflict between religious communities: Sunni and Shia and its influence on the population of Yemen).
