W połowie 2019 roku zlecono wykonanie ekspertyzy technicznej kładki pieszo-jezdnej nad rzeką Wartą w Sieradzu, która wykazała, m.in. przedawaryjny stan wszystkich cięgien podwieszających i potrzebę pilnego wykonania remontu kładki. W grudniu 2019 r. obiekt został całkowicie zamknięty dla ruchu pojazdów.
The cable-stayed footbridge over Warta river in Sieradz was put into operation in 1979, being one of the first cable-stayed bridges in Poland. It is 142 m long and the main span of 75.88 m, supported by 43.5 m high steel tower, had been the longest span of such type in Poland for many years. The technical expert opinion commissioned in 2019 revealed the pre-failure state of all stay cables and the need for the repair of the bridge. In December 2019, the bridge was closed to vehicle traffic.
