Trasy tramwajowe są drogami szynowymi prowadzonymi w przestrzeni ulic. Wskazane jest więc wskazanie klas ulic odpowiadających swoimi parametrami poszczególnym typom tras tramwajowych. W artykule opisano zagadnienia związane z prędkością tramwaju, gęstością i dostępnością przystanków, trasowaniem w planie i bezpieczeństwem w miejscach przecinania się potoków ruchu.
Tram ways are railways built within streets. Due to such location a coherence should be sought between classes of streets and parameters of different tram way types. A discussion in this paper focused on tram speed, density and accessibility of tram stops, design in plane and safety where traffic paths meet. A need for tram’s competitiveness led to a conclusion, that a paradigm of designing tram tracks along major streets should be abolished. Trams should be designed on separate tram streets or along streets of lesser class, but tram way parameters should be better than parameters of adjacent car way.
