Przedstawiono metodę sieciowania mieszanin kauczuku butadienowo-styrenowego i chlorosulfonowanego polietylenu (SBR/CSM). Mieszaniny ogrzewano w temperaturze 433 K w obecności donora jonów metalu (tlenku i nanotlenku cynku).
Blends of styrene-butadiene rubber and chlorosulfonated polyethylene (SBR/CSM) were studied. The blends were heated in the presence of a metal ion donor (zinc oxide, ZnO, or nano zinc oxide, nZnO). The influence of the ZnO and nZnO amount on the cross-linking of SBR/CSM blends (78/22 by wt.) and on the properties of obtained products were investigated. It was found that the cross-linking proceeds as a results of Friedel-Crafts alkylation of the SBR phenyl rings by chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSM). This reaction is catalyzed by Lewis acid (ZnCl2), in situ generated in the reaction of CSM as a polymeric polyhalide with a metal oxide (ZnO, nZnO). In situ formed Lewis acid acts as a low molecular weight initiator of SBR alkylation with CSM, and consequently forces the interpolymer reactions between SBR and CSM. It leads to the formation of the interelastomeric network. The influence of layered bentonite modified with quaternary ammonium salt (nanofiller ZS-1) or kaolin on the curing of SBR/CSM blends heated in the presence of ZnO or nZnO was determined too. It was found that the ZS-1 added to blends reduces the flammability of SBR/CSM blends heated in the presence of nZnO or ZnO, while the presence of kaolin as a filler does not change the flammability of obtained products.
