Wymagania te wymuszają zmianę podejścia do technik monitoringu stanu wód, czego wyrazem jest zastosowanie automatycznych stacji pomiarowych teletransmitujących wyniki bezpośrednio do systemów komputerowego gromadzenia danych i modelowania. Automatyczne sondy umożliwiają obserwacje okołodobowej zmienności właściwości/jakości wód i natychmiastowe wykrywanie zagrożeń. Mimo stale zwiększanego zakresu mierzonych zmiennych nie mogą jednak zastąpić tradycyjnych metod monitoringu. Projekt ZiZOZap realizowany w zbiorniku goczałkowickim w latach 2010-2013 dostarcza wyników obrazujących problemy i korzyści związane z prowadzeniem ciągłego monitoringu automatycznego i okresowego monitoringu tradycyjnego.
The Water Framework Directive and the need to rationalise the water resources management in the anthropopressure conditions require -besides the monitoring - also modelling and prognostication of dammed reservoirs condition. These requirements impose a change of attitude towards the water condition monitoring techniques, what is expressed by the use of automatic measurement stations transmitting the results directly to data collection and monitoring computer systems. Automatic probes enable observation of circadian variation of the water properties/quality and immediate detection of threats. Despite the continuously expanded scope of the measured variables, they cannot replace the traditional monitoring methods. The ZiZOZap project, carried out in the Goczałkowice reservoir in the years 2010-2013, generates results presenting problems and advantages related to continuous automatic monitoring and periodical traditional monitoring.
