The passage of a Sm 17.1 to 18.5 is considered as a stranger part in the context. It also occurs as a compilation of at least two alternative accounts. The narrative analysis allows, however, see some problems highlighted by literary commentators in different ways. Not only as a sign of a compilation and drawing back, but also wanted a half ago which leterrario prosequi events and better understand their meaning later. David is usually seen in this passage as a young man lacked military experience and his only victory becomes a sign of divine providence.
