Evarcha culicivora sp. nov., a jumping spider from western Kenya, is described. Records of natural prey are summarized, showing that this species feeds primarily on female mosquitoes, including Anopheles gambiae, the most important vector of human malaria in East Africa. This may be a salticid with unusually direct significance for public health.
