The paper concerns Sternorrhynchas collected in the mountainous regions of Poland. There is a small group of species found only in that areas, which consists of nine species of the Psylloidea, six species of the Coccoidea and fourteen of the Aphidoidea.
Stationery private apiary localized in Pulawy was the area, where the samples of European earwig (Forficula auricularia L.) were collected for this study. Acarological analyses of insects settled with external mites were conducted during the summer-autumn seasons (20042006). Results of microscopic examinations of 211 collected adult earwig specimens show that majority of them, i.e. 81.5% were settled...
The present-day Lepidoptera fauna of the Polish mountains is closely related to post-glacial history of this part of Europe. Current occurrence of moths in the mountains to a large extent reflects the botanical zones of the area. This results from many migration waves from various directions. Based on a comparison with other European mountain ranges it may be assumed that most alpine species came...
The paper contains a short overview of species richness and biodiversity of beetles recorded from mountain areas (Carpathians, Sudetes, Swietokrzyskie Mountains) on Polish territory (Tab., Fig.). Mountains in Poland are the most suitable areas for 5120 beetle species (85,5% of all Polish coleopterofauna) representing 116 families. However, the state of knowledge on beetle fauna in particular mountain...
In the years 20092010 there were research on chosen sites in Świętokrzyskie Mountains and near Suchedniów Plateau, to check if dragonflies show strong habitat preferences on this area. Moreover, it was tested which species live there and if protected areas are correlated with higher diversity of these insects. It was found out that protected habitat does not mean more species of dragonflies nor conservation...
The paper presents detailed information about the new records of snow flies (Diptera: Limoniidae) and snow scorpionflies (Mecoptera: Boreidae) from Beskid Sądecki Mountains.
The work contains the current state of knowledge concerning ladybirds in Kampinos National Park and shows the results of research conducted in the eastern part of the park in the years 20082010. Two species are new to the Mazovian Lowland: Hippodamia notata (LAICH.) and Harmonia axyridis (PALL.).
The paper presents study on fauna and ecology of Staphylinidae in the Karkonosze Mts. since 1989. Further research was advised peat and mountainous areas especially.
The Tatra Mountains constitute an area of great natural value. They comprise all bioclimatic zones typical for true alpine environment and play an important role for conservation of European biodiversity. For almost two centuries, the Tatra nature has been attracting interest of scientists of many specializations. Although history of investigations on beetles dates back to the middle of the XIX century,...
Southern slope of Mt. Olszak (453 m) in the Opawskie Mts. (Eastern Sudety Mts., SW Poland) is planned to be protected as an entomological-and-phytocenotic reserve. The main objectives of the protection are acidophilous oak forest and maple-linden slope forest being habitats of many rare species of moths and lacewings known from not numerous localities in Poland. Out of them, the populations of two...
The state of knowledge of Thysanoptera in Polish parts of the Sudety Mts. and the Carpathian Mts. is presented. Up to now 41 thrips species have been noted from the former and 125 from the latter mountain chain. From among 128 listed species Oxythrips tatricus is regarded as Carpathian endemic and Thrips trybomi, Haplothrips alpicola, H. alpestris, H. propinqus are connected with mountainous regions;...
In the article entomofauna of longhorn beetles in Holy Cross Mts. (Góry Świętokrzyskie) was characterized. A participation of zoogeographical elements and results of phenological observation were described. Ten forests plant associations were subjected to a detailed analysis. In frames of separate units a species richness and a fidelity of particular species were characterised. Similarity of forests...
The study presents review of postage stamps and other philatelic values showing bumble-bees issued by post offices in various countries. Results were based on own authors philatelic collection containing stamps showing protection and biocenotic and economic significance of these useful apoid insects as effective pollinators of agricultural cultivars and wild of plants.
New records of 38 thrips species occurring in the Sudety Mts. are presented. The data about their host plants are added. The most interesting species were as follows: Chirothrips ruptipennis, Haplothrips statices and Thrips roepkei which have been recorded for the first time in Polish mountains.
The paper contains new faunistic records about water beetles from the suborder Adephaga of the Świętokrzyskie Mts. Authors recorded 65 species, new for this region of Poland, belonging to four families: Gyrinidae, Haliplidae, Noteridae, Dytiscidae. Information about most interesting species are given.
