Study was conducted on 43 Lowland-Black-White cows kept tethered and on straw bedding, where the annual average milk yield was on the level of 3890 kg/cow, and on 22 cows from free-stand, concrete floor barn, with the milk production of 3200 kg/cow. On the ground of preliminary assignments of ketone body and acid base balance, cows were allotted to one of three groups: Ith - group of healthy animals, IInd - group with ketosis and the IIIth - group with acidosis diagnosed. It was resumed, that the colostrum composition from cows qualified as a healthy, did not differ between herds, although higher level of total protein about 13.3 H, protein in whey about 43.5 % and immunoglobulins about 35.5 % were found in cows from tethered-straw bedding barn, with higher level of feeding and higher annual milk production. Colostrum from cows, in which acidosis or ketosis was diagnosed, contained lower levels of total protein, protein in whey and dry matter, then colostrum from healthy cows. It was not stated, that there were effects of decreasing of protein level in colostrum on the total protein level and its fractions in blood serum in calves, after colostrum suckling termination.
