Abstract
The article presents legal solutions adopted during the November Uprising against Russia in order to help war veterans and their families. These solutions aim to provide financial support for war severely injured and disabled soldiers and non-commissioned officers who were unable to return to active duty and for the widows and orphans of soldiers and non-commissioned officers fallen during battles. These solutions were introduced in February 1831 by parliament of the Polish Kingdom. The paper also discusses the organization of state aid for the families of officers and non-commissioned officers who served as volunteers in the army of Polish Kingdom and were not paid from the state budget. The regulation issued in January 1831 by gen. Józef Chłopicki served this. The article also describes activities of the social charity committees which raised funds for the soldiers’ families and took care of the orphans of fallen soldiers. Particularly deserved in this field were women with Anna Nakwaska and Klementyna from Tańscy Hoffmanowa at the helm.
