Social timidity which is sometimes called interactive timidity, or very often simply shyness, is a peculiar kind of fear which is realised in social situations. This fear, seen particularly when a child is evaluated by others or finds itself in a situation of social exposition made it that for many children participation in school activities becomes a torment . The feeling of danger in contacts with others and at the same time frustration of the need of social-emotional tie cause the deepening of the social isolation of the child. In recent years in psychological and pedagogical literature a lot of attention is paid to sources of failure in studies and in taking advantage of one's own potential, but timid children are still too often unnoticed although their proper development is made considerably more difficult. Our studies and the model of therapy proposed indicate that these children can be effictively helped to free themselves from the 'Cinderella complex' since even these children who openly express their conviction of their own lesser value will belief that one day everything will change.
