The aim of the article was to find out if applying profiling (in the Langacker's sense) into discourse analysis can help in identifying discourse borders. Text sample used in the analysis comes from debate on parental leave prolonging that took part in Polish parliament in 2006. All the cases when the term 'family' occured in the text were coded and then correspondence analysis of their co-occurence was conducted. The analysis revealed several profiles of the term family which can be connected with particular parties, using specific discourse. That shows that profiling can be an useful tool in discourse analysis.
