TEACHING STANDARDS AND ACCREDITATION OF LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCE STUDIES (Standardy ksztalcenia i akredytacja kierunku informacja naukowa i bibliotekoznawstwo)
The article is a discussion of improvements to Polish higher education in the field of library and information science. The concept of new teaching standards for first- and second-level studies adopted by the Minister for Science and Higher Education in 2007 is presented. Rules for student mobility based on the European Credit Transfer System are described. The cooperation of university sites within the framework of the University Accreditation Committee is discussed in relation to the development of standards for quality teaching in the field of Library and Information Science and its evaluation in the universities applying for the community accreditation. The results of the study on the quality of teaching done by the State Accreditation Committee are presented. Trends in cooperation among the university units teaching library and information science are discussed.
