This research communiqué informs on an empirical study and theoretical discussion carried out under the 6th Framework Programme funded by the European Commission under the title: 'Immigrants into Labour Market and Society. Policy Assessment and Policy Recommendations (FeMiPol)'. The research project is being conducted by the Center for Population Research at the Institute of Sociology, Jagiellonian University, Kraków. Jagiellonian University is one of eight partner institutions engaged in the FeMiPol programme. The key aim of the project is to analyze the influence of the migration policy on female migrants' situation through an assessment of integration processes that this group undergoes. This analysis would form the basis for new regulation aiming at improving individual member states' policy towards its immigrants, especially women. A formulation of better legislation should take place both on a national, as well as on the European level.
