Mergers of companies bring about many chances as well as threats. First of all, success may depend on the credibility of economic-financial analysis of profitability and the symmetry of merging enterprises. Potential problems may fall into three groups: legal-organizational, socio-political, and financial ones. In the process of fusion, human resources management is a sensitive issue and deserves special attention. Final results are usually derivatives of reasons which lie behind the decision making in the process of merging. They are concentrated in four areas: technical-operational, marketing, financial, and managerial.
