In John 10:22-39 Jesus claims that he himself is a true messianic shepherd and a new temple. A dialogue that he leads in the temple area covers also evident ecclesiological aspects. Jesus contrast the attitude of non-believing Jews and the sheep that belong to him, hear his voice and follow him. The Lord knows his sheep, he offers them eternal life and ensures their safety. The ones who belong to his flock do not abandon him, because they are safeguarded by God. Jesus as a destroyed and rebuilt temple would gather all the people anew, becoming a space of their community with God, the model of which is a unity of the Son and the Father.
