Swimming is one of modern methods of therapy and recently it has been gaining wide popularity, as there are no age limits to its use. Therapeutic and corrective swimming and water-based exercises are one of many forms of physical exercising in sport and physiotherapy, which enable harmonic development of the entire body with minimum risk of injuries. Benefits of this type of physical activity should encourage people to learn swimming and exercise in the water regardless of the degree of their disability. The purpose of this paper is to describe the methodological basics and benefits of this kind of therapeutic activity and present selected methods and techniques of corrective swimming.
