BODE index is the prognostic indicator in chronic obstructive lung disease, in which beyond bronchial obstruction the body mass index, dyspnea and competence exercise are taken into consideration. The indicator consists of few elements: B - BMI, O - obturation, D - dyspnea, E - exercise, taking into consideration various constitutional aspects of disease. The purpose of the paper was usage of BODE index in estimation of results of rehabilitation of patients with Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease. 60 in- hospital patients with chronic obstructive lung disease were examined, in Specialized Hospital MSWiA (Ministry of Interior and Administration) in Głuchołazy. The patients, who were referred to rehabilitation, were divided into two groups. Before and after the rehabilitation in both groups the valuation of the patients was conducted on basis of BODE scale. Each variable of BODE indicator can be given from 0 to 3 points, beyond BMI, for which mark is from 0 to 1. The lowest value of BODE index is 0, as the highest one is 10 points. The results of preliminary and final examination of examined patients were under statistical comparative analysis. The analysis of the results of the research was carried out by assay the mean value of all indexes according to BODE, comparing them with values before and after the programme of rehabilitation. In order to verify if the mean values of both researches vary from each other in significant level, they were compared with Student's Test for pair samples and the average of the gain was calculated of all indicators. The analysis of the results of research showed the improvement of BODE indexes after the rehabilitation as the absolute values. There was no improvement in variations of values of BODE indexes. It seems that the usefulness of BODE index to estimate the results of rehabilitation associated with modification and expanding the scope of marking.
